5 Things I Loved About Edmonton, Alberta

The first week of February, I had the opportunity to go to do The Gospel According to Josh at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta which is north of the border and about 600 miles north of Spokane in Washington State.

And right before writing today I realized I haven’t kept my promise to go in-depth into some of my travels with the GATJ.

So without further ado, the 5 things I love about Edmonton, Alberta.
  • Kept promises. So this one isn’t quite about Edmonton...but I took a day off. Earlier in the year I promised myself I’d take a day off in a new city once a month. Why? For my mental health—I can’t work all the time like I’m so oft inclined to do. And to actually experience the world...and I did it!
  • Spending time with new friends, eh. I made a friend, Jenny, who’s I met through a friend of a friend. I stayed at her house. We had deep conversation. I met her grandson. We had BBQ ribs. All made possible by the spirit of adventure and friendship.
  • This Edmonton Oilers Mug and These Canada socks. Also made possible by my new friend Jenny and the spirit of BOO-YAH...I got me some new socks and a mug.

  • Grant MacEwan University. A great big university with a great big heart. They are working so hard for student health and mental health and I have to give ‘em a big shout out. And the campus is gorgeous and they even took me out for Japanese food...I’m swooning here.
  • The West Edmonton Mall. This place is as big as a city and just as big as that big mall in Minnesota. In fact it’s the biggest mall in North America. It has an indoor water park, a casino, an indoor roller coaster park (I rode the Mindbender), a huge faux pirate ship, sea otters, about five Guess stores, and a Hooters. Good times.

I promised to keep in short...but stay tuned. In a month I’ll have a l’il something about San Diego slash Mexico. (woot woot!)
